30 Hubs In 30 Days Challenge (How Do Earnings Increase)

Updated on May 1, 2012

The Start

In May 2011, I first heard about an interesting website called HubPages; I was interested in making some money online through writing articles about things I'm interested in.

I published one or two hubs but didn't see any immediate earnings, so stopped using the website for a while.

I didn't return until August 2011, when again I publish one or two hubs and again saw very little earnings. I assumed it didn't work, so I left again.

Before April 2012

  • Hub Count: 5
  • View Count: 350
  • Followers: 2
  • Earnings: $0.43

The Return

In April 2012, I remembered that website and thought I would try again. So I learnt a little bit about SEO and getting views online, and decided to start writing again.

I decided to do the 30 Hubs in 30 Day Challenge that I'd heard about, to kickstart some views.

The First Week

On the 3rd of April I wrote 3 hubs, which as of 14th April have a total of 1067 views between them.

On the 4th of April I wrote a further 2 hubs, which as of 14th April have a total of 855 views between them.

On the 5th of April I wrote a further 3 hubs, which didn't perform as well and as of 14th April only have 102 views between them.

On the 6th of April I went crazy and wrote 7 hubs, 6 of which didn't do well and got just 86 views between them, as of 14th April, but the seventh is my current best performer with 986 views, so in total 1072 views.

On the 7th of April I wrote a further 2 hubs, which together earned 57 views by the 14th of April.

On the 8th of April I wrote 1 hub, which received 125 views by the 14th.

On the 9th of April I wrote 1 hub, which received 153 views by the 14th.

Earnings Update

End of First Week

  • Hub Count: 24
  • View Count: 3500
  • Followers: 11
  • Earnings: $3.40

So since I had wrote 19 hubs in the first week, I was pretty confident of getting the 30 hubs in 30 days.

The Second Week

I didn't write again until the 12th when I published 1 hub, which 10 days later has 89 views.

I wrote 2 hubs on the 13th, which 10 days later have 144 views.

Earnings Update

End of Second Week

  • Hub Count: 27
  • View Count: 4800
  • Followers: 14
  • Earnings: $5.83

I only wrote 3 hubs in the second week of the challenge, but that gave me a total of 22 in just 2 weeks, so I was still confident of reaching the 30 in 30.

Earnings Update

End of Second Week

  • Hub Count: 29
  • View Count: 6000
  • Followers: 29
  • Earnings: $7.80

Final Update

So over the whole month I wrote 32 hubs, and so succeeded with the 30 Hubs in 30 Days challenge. Over that time my views have increased to 8,000 and as you can see in the table my earnings have totaled over $11.

Now obviously this isn't a load of money, but I think since it's my first month of seriously writing hubs, it's not too bad and will hopefully begin to increase in the future.
